From My Ears to Yours: Unveiling My Favorite Podcast Gems

Alright, I’ve finally decided to start my podcast up again. For a while I was hesitant, I was trying to manage my time, gather resources and I didn’t want to just half-ass it. Now, I have finally decided to take the jump and start it up again. In honor of that, I thought I would put together a list of my favorite podcasts to listen to. These podcasts are my go-to when I need a laugh, a thrilling story or just something for my drive home. I hope you find them just as entertaining as I do!

  • “New Heights” hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce

This is an obvious no-brainer. I first discovered this podcast on TikTok and for a while just watched clips on there. Honestly, I wish I would have started listening sooner because Travis and Jason are hilarious. The two brothers grew up in Cleveland Heights, a suburb outside the city of Cleveland, Ohio. They then went on to play at the University of Cincinnati together before being drafted into the NFL. As someone who’s always loved football, this podcast is the perfect balance between the game and their lives. The two brothers discuss everything from their work in the community to things happening around the NFL and it is never a dull moment. This podcast has it all. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll learn more than you thought you would.

  • “SmartLess” hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett

Another favorite listen of mine is “SmartLess” hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. I don’t think I’ve ever ended an episode not hunched over from laughing so hard. In each episode, one of the three hosts brings out a mystery guest the other two don’t know about. What happens next is nothing short of pure comedic genius. The podcast is so popular in fact that they turned it into its own television show. The three hosts are a perfect balance of each other and work so well together that everything feels natural and almost as if you were listening in on real conversations they have at the dinner table. With a wide variety of guests, there’s an episode for everyone to love, which one will you choose?

  • “Murder With My Husband” hosted by Payton and Garrett Moreland

This one’s for my crime junkie crew. I first began listening to “Murder With My Husband” last spring as part of an assignment and I haven't stopped listening to it since. As someone who loves the curiosity and mystery of true crime but doesn’t do blood or gory details, this podcast was perfect. The show's hosts, husband and wife Payton and Garrett Moreland do a great job at describing stories so vividly you can picture them in your mind. With over 150 episodes to choose from there’s always something new to listen to when it comes to these two. If you love true crime like me this podcast is the perfect choice. It’ll make you jump, scream and leave you on the edge of your seat.

  • “Giggly Squad” hosted by Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo

Finally, we have “Giggly Squad” from besties Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo. The two first met while on the set of “Summer House” in 2019 and have been besties ever since. The podcast's name is even a reference to the television show as the two would often start laughing uncontrollably while filming. This podcast is unhinged and I love every part of it. Berner and DeSorbo are hilarious, authentic and refreshing. They talk about everything from shoes to shows and no one can stop them. Another podcast I found on TikTok and have fallen in love with, “Giggly Squad” will never fail to make you laugh, cry and drop your jaw all in one episode.

While my love for podcasts is still new, I felt like I needed to share some of my favorite shows for people who are just getting into it because it’s so daunting when you’re first starting out. There are millions of shows on tons of different streaming platforms and literally no right or wrong way when it comes to finding a show for you. I hope you enjoyed my list of favorites and that it helps you find your own!

  1. Great blog Rileigh! I have never been into podcasts until I started listening to New Heights by the Kelce brothers. I am a big NFL fan so it is very interesting to me. Murder with my Husband sounds like a very intriguing podcast, I might have to give that a listen. The fact that you have your own podcast too is awesome, I would be interested in listening!

  2. Love this!! I have gotten so into podcasts lately especially while I run because I get tired of listening to the same music time and time again. Also, I really like listening to podcasts while I do art, paint, or do my remote work. It's such a great thing to do while multitasking and there's podcasts for literally everything, so I never get bored!
