Ohio Northern Women's Soccer Spring Game Preview

On Saturday, April 20th, the Ohio Northern Women’s Soccer team will be taking a trip up to Findlay, Ohio to face The University of Findlay in their Spring exhibition game. Findlay is led by a new head coach and former ONU assistant coach Sierra Perry while second-year head coach Ben Tierney leads the Bears.

Findlay, 11-5-4 overall, made a strong run in G-MAC conference play last season, tying the No. 1 team in the nation, Ashland University, twice to secure a spot in the conference tournament. Ohio Northern, 10-9-1 overall, made an incredible run in their conference play, securing a No. 4 seed and upsetting rivals Otterbein University to make it to the conference tournament finals for the ninth season in a row. Both teams faced a tough ending to their Fall seasons, Findlay falling to Northwood University in the conference semi-final and ONU taking a crushing 2-1 defeat to John Carroll University in the conference finals.

It’s a new day, however, as both teams will meet up for this Northwest Ohio match-up. Even though Findlay is a Division ll school, Ohio Northern is no stranger to facing higher level competition and has some weapons to use at their disposal. Seniors Jill Roberts and Kylie Cabana will be returning for their first year of eligibility this coming Fall and are available for the Spring exhibition game. Roberts and Cabana combine for a total of 27 goals over their careers and a plethora of awards. Cabana was even named an All-American in 2022 for her accomplishments during the season. Right behind these two is a rising senior class that’s no stranger to the spotlight. Emma Bowman and Alyssa Beckett combine for an impressive 114 starts over three years between the two of them and are regulars in the Ohio Athletic Conference awards categories.

As the Ohio Northern Women’s Soccer team prepares for their Spring exhibition game against The University of Findlay, anticipation builds for a clash of talent and determination on the field. With Findlay under the guidance of new head coach Sierra Perry, formerly of ONU, and Ohio Northern led by second-year head coach Ben Tierney, both teams are poised for a competitive showdown. As the whistle blows and the game unfolds, all eyes will be on these athletes as they write the next chapter in their storied rivalry, leaving fans eager for what promises to be an exciting contest between these two Northwest Ohio powerhouses.
